While we have begun reintroducing small, in-person programs at our Amherstview and Napanee Branches, we also have a few programs that we're running virtually. It is baffling how much goes on behind the scenes in museums, so I thought I’d bring you along while I go through the steps of an inventory for a single artifact. This single artifact is part of the larger furniture inventory happening at the museum. First off, why would a museum be doing an inventory? This is one of those questions that has a million correct answers but more than anything else the answer is because it’s a good idea.

I’ll begin this blog by saying I miss you all. I miss hearing the voices of visitors talking about exhibits, the beautiful sound of music resonating with the audience, kids' laughter echoing in our hallway and the ability to create a sense of community within our walls. It has been a different year for us at Lennox and Addington County Museum and Archives, navigating how to connect with our visitors from a distance. 2020 has allowed us the time and ability to rethink how we function and how we will be able to have an even greater reach and impact for our visitors and beyond.
Pedestrian Crossover at Southview Public School
The flag at the County Courthouse is currently flying at half mast in recognition of the passing of former Prime Minister John Turner. Former PM Turner died on Sept 19th at the age of 91. The Canadian government also announced a half-masting of the national flags on the Peace Tower and all federal buildings and establishments in Canada to honour Turner’s memory. Flags will remain at half-mast until the day of his funeral on Oct 6th.
