It is a pleasure to welcome you to our website on behalf of County Council and the staff of the County of Lennox and Addington. Through this website, current information respecting the proceedings of Council meetings, updates concerning policies and by-laws, events and programs will be provided. We hope that this site is a valuable source for information about our County and that you will visit often.

Lennox and Addington County is an upper-tier government and is comprised of four lower-tier municipalities – Addington Highlands, Greater Napanee, Loyalist and Stone Mills. We are located in the heart of beautiful Eastern Ontario between the cities of Kingston and Belleville, only two hours from Toronto, Ottawa and just three hours from Montreal.

The County covers an expansive area of 2,777 square kilometres, stretching from Lake Ontario northward over 130 kilometres to Renfrew County. The northern half of the County forms part of the Canadian Shield and as such, is rugged, rocky, covered with a maze of lakes and forests, mostly unsuited for agriculture and quite attractive as a recreational area. The southern half of the County is essentially rural, with the exception of urban Napanee and the suburban community of Amherstview within Loyalist Township. The rural area is dotted with a number of villages and hamlets which function as commercial and tourism centres for the surrounding area.

The County of Lennox and Addington is rich in history and those who have laid the foundation for our existence and direction are to be recognized and truly appreciated. The family names of the earliest pioneers remain and hundreds of grand homes and family farmsteads still stand as a testament to their vision and hard work. Like the pioneers, today’s residents continue to work together, volunteer together and support one another in a caring community. The County takes pride in building upon strong traditions while planning and committing to support a thriving, progressive and inviting community.
