The Macpherson House in Napanee is now open and a full slate of programming will soon be underway. Two fun-filled events will be taking place in mid-July that are aimed at music lovers and children of all ages.

On Wednesday, July 12th at 7pm, Ian Bell hosts an Old Ontario Kitchen Party outside in the front gardens. It's the first of two “Summer Kitchen Party” concerts happening this summer. Ian will highlight traditional Ontario songs and instrumental music that visitors can sing along with, tap their toes to, or maybe even dance a step or two. Songs from the lumber camps, parlours and docksides will be highlighted, along with jigs and reels played on guitar, concertina, banjo and button accordion. Those in attendance are asked to bring their own chairs to sit around the front gardens at the House. Light refreshments will be available in the kitchen. Admission is $3 per person and tickets are available at the door.

A fun theatrical event takes place the following day on Thursday, July 13th at 2pm. Geared toward child audiences, the 'not so famous' Dufflebag Theatre will perform the classic tale “Rumplestiltskin” in the gardens of the Macpherson House. DuffleBag Theatre previously entertained at the Museum & Archives in March with the classic tale “Beauty and the Beast”. Admission is $3 per person and tickets are available at the door.

Also note that beginning on July 4th, “Demo Days” events take place every Tuesday and Thursday at the Macpherson House at 2pm (except July 13th & August 1st). Admission to these events are free. See the full schedule on the Museum website.
