“Handwriting analysis” the topic for the next “Archives Learning Lab” on November 25th

If you’ve ever wondered what your ancestor’s personality was like, you may find out at the next edition of "Archives Learning Labs," taking place at the Lennox & Addington County Museum & Archives on Saturday, November 25th from 10am - noon.

The Ham House the topic for the next edition of “Archives Learning Labs”

The next edition of "Archives Learning Labs" takes place at the Lennox & Addington County Museum & Archives in Napanee on Saturday, October 28th from 10am - noon.

Ron Tasker will discuss the restoration of the Ham House (1817), Bath, as it connects to the built heritage of early Ontario. He will also present finds made in the building and explore how they relate to individuals and significant local and world events. 

"Archives Learning Labs" debut at the L&A County Museum & Archives on September 23rd

A new series of interesting "Archives Learning Labs" have been scheduled to take place at the Lennox & Addington County Museum & Archives, located at 97 Thomas Street East in Napanee.

The first lab entitled "The Home Archivist" is on Saturday, September 23rd from 9am - noon. Kyla Ubbink, book and paper conservator, will provide those in attendance with the skills needed to save and preserve various treasured family items.

Lennox & Addington County is home to many dedicated volunteers. An exciting volunteer project in the Archives is being headed up by Sarah Monnier, a third year student of history at Queen’s University.

Church Family Records

Malachi Church, born 24 Jun 1732 in Hadley, Hampshire, Massachusetts, married Elizabeth Mills on 30 April 1756 at Westfield, Massachusetts. They had two sons, Oliver Church (1756-1817) and Jonathan Mills Church (1760-1846). Malachi died in Quebec before his sons located to the Bay of Quinte.

Newspaper Digitization Project

An exciting project for 2017 is underway in the Archives. Jim Sova, a dedicated volunteer, has been hard at work preparing parts of the microfilmed newspaper collection for digitization. The Napanee Express (1862-1951) and The Napanee Standard (1855-1866) are slated for phase one of the project. The goal is to have as many issues as possible searchable by keyword.
