Fans of traditional Canadian fiddle music are in for a treat at the next edition of Tuesday Night at the Museum. On Tuesday, March 20th at 7pm, The Irish Trio presents the History of Fiddle Music in Canada.

Fiddles are the premiere instrument in rural Canada dating as far back as the 17th century. The evening highlights the importance of the role that fiddle music has played in the development of our country since the arrival of the earliest settlers. Those in attendance will hear a variety of lively fiddle tunes and will take a trip through Canada's fiddle history with Scottish, Irish, East Coast, French, Ottawa Valley and Metis fiddle tunes including such favourites as Maple Sugar and St. Anne's Reel.

The audience will experience the jigs, reels, hornpipes and songs that have been played in homes and dances for centuries. They'll find out who the artists were that wrote the music, how they played their tunes, and why the music continues to be popular in Canada to this day.

This event is proudly presented by the Lennox & Addington County Museum & Archives, located at 97 Thomas Street East in Napanee. Tickets are $3 each and are available at the door. 'Tuesday Night at the Museum' is a monthly programming feature at museum, a series covering a wide array of themed programming presented by experts on their respective subjects.
