For all school age educators in licensed before and after school programs within Prince Edward-Lennox & Addington

Focus:

"After School Care- Like Going Home"
School aged children have just spent their day learning so their after school care needs to be a place to unwind, socialize and relax with the help of a caring and supportive caregiver. Creating a home-like place to go after school can be challenging with low budgets and in 'shared space'. In this workshop we'll explore how to create a Child-focused, Play-based environment for school-aged children, referencing How Does Learning Happen-Ontario’s Pedagogy for the Early Years, ELECT and other Resources

“How Does Learning Happen? ... the Outdoor Classroom"
In this session Monica will continue the discussion of how important learning and playing outside is to child development, emotional regulation and lowering ‘Challenging Behaviour’, the importance of the Outdoor Classroom and why we need to be part of this incredible shift in thinking, . We will look at tons of ideas for activities, design, how to do it ‘on a dime’ and then we’ll look at ways to engage the families and community to get what you need.

This will include hands on activities, reflection, networking and group discussion.

Lunch will be provided.
