March 26, 2021 - The John M. Parrott Centre is working closely with KFL&A Public Health to address a single case of COVID-19 associated with a staff member.

As per ministry guidelines, a single case of COVID-19 triggers an automatic outbreak within the Home.  The Home was notified of the outbreak by KFL&A Public Health officials on the evening of March 25, 2021.

At the direction of KFL&A Public Health, all Residents in the affected home area were swabbed immediately.  Testing for the remainder of the Home’s Residents will be completed by the end of the day.  All staff are also being tested commencing today.

As an extra precaution, all Residents will remain in their own Resident Home Areas, with main doors to each area closed until all test results are received.  Each Resident will be allowed visits from one designated essential caregiver, but no general visitors will be allowed in the Home until further notice.

The John M. Parrott Centre is a 168 bed Long-Term Care Facility in Napanee, owned and operated by the County of Lennox and Addington. This is the first COVID-19 outbreak associated with the Home.

Lennox and Addington County Warden Ric Bresee said, “We are mindful of the timing for our Residents, with approximately 94% having had their 2nd vaccine dose over two weeks ago.”  Warden Bresee went on to say, “We want to assure the community that every precaution will continue to be implemented to reduce the likelihood of COVID-19 transmission in our Home.”
