County declares END of Significant Weather Event

 Wednesday January 26, 2022 at 9:00 am -  After reviewing weather reports the County subscribes to, and observing the current weather, sidewalk conditions and road conditions, the County of Lennox & Addington wishes to declare the end of the significant weather event in accordance with the Minimum Maintenance Standards, O.Reg. 239/02.

Significant Weather Event - Update - Temporary Road Closure

Please be advised that County Road 1 East to Colebrook Road in the village of Yarker will be temporarily closed to through traffic on Friday, January 21, 2022 from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm to accommodate the removal of snow.  Local traffic or pedestrians in the closure area will be escorted by traffic control persons.

Please refrain from street parking to allow municipal crews to remove the snow.

Significant Weather Event - Update #2

As of 2:00pm on  January 18, 2022, the declaration of a Significant Weather Event is still in place for Lennox and Addington County.  The winter storm warning has ended, but we are expecting an additional snow accumulation of 3-7cm over the next 24 hours.

January 17, 2022 - as of 2:00 pm today, the winter storm warning continues through this evening. Snow, still possible heavy at times, with total snowfall amounts of 25 to 40 cm.  Local blowing snow due to wind gusts of up to 60km/h which will significant reduce visibilities.

After reviewing weather reports that the County of Lennox and Addington subscribes to, and observing the weather warnings issued by Environment Canada, the County of Lennox and Addington is declaring a significant weather event in the municipality, as defined within the Minimum Maintenance Standards O.Reg. 239/02. 

Canada Community Building Fund

2021 County of Lennox and Addington Hot Mix Program - The County of Lennox and Addington receives funding through the Canada Community-Building Fund (formerly known as the Gas Tax). This funding allows the County to complete resurfacing programs throughout our jurisdiction. A re-surfaced road allows residents and commuters a safe, durable, and higher energy efficiency roadway. This funding is used to partially fund the annual Hot Mix Program with signs placed on the limits of the project.

On January 12, 2022,  the Ontario Government announced that students will return to in-person learning on Monday January 17, 2022. 

PELASS is no longer accepting applications for Emergency School Age Childcare.    

Ric Bresee Sworn in as Lennox and Addington County Warden for 2022

December 9, 2021 – Lennox and Addington County Council wishes to announce that Ric Bresee, Mayor of Loyalist Township, was acclaimed as County Warden for the year 2022.  Nominations for the position took place at the November 24th meeting, with Warden Bresee taking the oath of office at Council’s Inaugural Meeting held virtually on December 8, 2021. Ric Bresee also served as County Warden for the year 2021.

I am writing this blog on the day the biggest snowstorm has hit in years!  I honestly sit here in a bit of awe that we are still in the midst of this pandemic almost 24 months later and that I am yet again working from home. But alas, here we are and do want to know the most scary thing of all?  - I am left alone with my curatorial thoughts… so many of those and let me tell you... yikes!
