Location:            Various County buildings in Lennox & Addington and Prince Edward County

Hours of Work:   7:30 am to 4:00 pm (37.5 hours per week - on-call rotation) 

Salary Range:    $24.23 to $28.34 per hour (under review) 

Duration:           April 29, 2024 - August 10, 2025 with the possibility of extension

The County of Lennox and Addington, with a population of 40,000, is strategically located in Eastern Ontario between the cities of Belleville and Kingston.  The County owns and manages over 50 buildings, including administration offices, ambulance bases, museums and social housing facilities.   This position will mainly work at Picton properties but you would be required to complete training and various shifts in Napanee.  

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform preventative maintenance of HVAC systems, machinery, equipment, water systems and custodial duties as required
  • Operate County vehicles, snow removal, salting / sanding and grounds maintenance equipment
  • Perform required maintenance and service in accordance with equipment manuals and work orders
  • Undertake cleaning & garbage removal and minor repairs including carpentry, painting, drywall, etc.
  • Operate computerized building management systems
  • Work overtime from time to time
  • Satisfactory attendance record, subject to the requirements of the Ontario Human Rights Code

SUMMARY OF QUALIFICATIONS:

The ideal candidate will:

  • Be in good physical health, capable of lifting 75 lbs. (repeatedly) and able to work days, nights and   weekends when necessary
  • Possess a Post-Secondary School Diploma in a related field of study i.e.: mechanical, electrical, carpentry, plumbing, horticulture, forestry and or equipment operation or equivalent education and experience
  • Three years of experience performing carpentry, plumbing, drywall and minor electrical repairs
  • Possess a valid Class G Drivers Licence and able to provide a satisfactory driver’s abstract
  • Proficiency using computer applications including GIS, MS office, i.e. Word, Excel & Outlook
  • Obtain Operation of Small Drinking Water Systems Certificate within 3 months of offer of employment and maintain this certificate
  • Employment is conditional upon a satisfactory criminal record check
