You start getting the itch to ride when you put away your winter coat. When the apple trees start to blossom, you get your bike out of storage and check the air in your tires. In Lennox & Addington County, you know that spring has officially arrived when the street sweepers are out cleaning the paved shoulders of the County Trails cycling system. Well, cycling enthusiasts, the time to ride is officially here.
The County Trails take you through the charming towns and villages, the picturesque countryside and the rugged beauty that is Lennox & Addington County. In total, there are 12 looping routes along 600 kilometres of paved roadway, varying in lengths from 24 to 102 km. Spend the day and do 2 or 3 routes, or spend a long-weekend and cycle them all.
Cycling clubs from all over Eastern Ontario are beginning to realize how great Lennox & Addington is for cycling. You regularly see clubs from the neighbouring cities and towns travelling along our roadways. The Cyclopaths Cycling Club from Belleville tours our county three or four times a season. Clubs from Clarington, Toronto and Ottawa have all been seen venturing the County Trails.
Some of the routes are more challenging than others but all are well-marked, easily accessible, and promise to be exciting. To learn more, be sure to visit www.CountyTrails.com. |
