One of nature’s prime celestial sights will soon be taking place in the night skies above Lennox & Addington County. Each year in August is the peak of the Perseid Meteor Shower, the northern hemisphere's finest annual display of 'shooting stars'.

The Gardens of the Macpherson House will play host to 'Salt Water Moon' production on August 17th & 18th | Print |

The gardens of the Allan Macpherson House & Park in Napanee will come alive during a theatrical performance on August 17th & 18th at 8pm. Salt Water Moon is a beloved play by Newfoundlander David French. The gardens of Napanee's most well-known historic home will be centre stage for this production.

Stargazing events to take place at the Lennox & Addington County Dark Sky Viewing Area during the August long-weekend | Print |

This Civic Holiday weekend, the public is invited to  the fourth in a series of events at the Lennox & Addington County Dark Sky Viewing Area this summer. The event takes place on Friday, July 29th & Saturday, July 30th from 10 - 11:30 pm (weather permitting). Visitors will enjoy a laser-guided sky tour and a take peek through a high-power telescope.

Macpherson House in Napanee kicks off another busy summer season on July 5th | Print |
The Allan Macpherson House & Park will open for another busy summer season on July 5th. The historic home, built in 1826, will open for tours on Tuesdays and Thursdays in July and August from 10am – 5 pm. In addition to tours, a number of events will take place throughout the summer months. On Canada Day weekend, the public is invited to  the third in a series of events at the Lennox & Addington County Dark Sky Viewing Area this summer. The event takes place on July 2nd & 3rd from 10 - 11:30 pm (weather permitting). Visitors will enjoy a laser-guided sky tour and a take peek through a high-power telescope. Saturn and Mars are very prominent in the sky and the Hercules Cluster is now directly overhead and in a prime position.

Lennox & Addington County Museum & Archives overrun by criminals | Print |

This summer, the Lennox & Addington County Museum & Archives will be overrun with criminals of all sorts. But don’t worry, the museum isn’t being converted back into the County jail, and the police need not be called. It is all part of an exciting travelling exhibit courtesy the OPP Museum.

See Mars, Jupiter & Saturn through a high-power telescope from the L&A Dark Sky Viewing Area on June 3rd & 4th | Print |

You're invited to the second in a series of events at the Lennox & Addington County Dark Sky Viewing Area this summer. Take a laser-guided sky tour and a high-power viewing of Mars, Jupiter, Saturn and other celestial objects on June 3rd & 4th from 9:30 - 11pm (weather permitting). On hand at the Dark Sky Viewing Area to lead the sessions will be dark sky enthusiast, Joe Gilker. Joe is a regular visitor to the Dark Sky Viewing Area and has become well-known in astrophotography circles in recent years. He writes the popular "Dark Arts Astrophotography" blog.
