With light pollution reaching an all-time high, there are fewer and fewer places to witness the unimpeded beauty of the night sky. Luckily for stargazers, photographers and astronomers, there is Lennox & Addington County.
One of the many highlights of L&A is that our dark nights make conditions ideal for stargazing. Sheffield Conservation Area in Lennox & Addington County is the most southen point in Ontario where the night sky is so pristine, offering a night sky experience very similar to what was available 100 years ago.
In 2010, a photo contest named "Shoot the Stars in L&A County" was held. More than 50 high quality entries were received, confirming to the world that Lennox & Addington County is a premier location for shooting the night skies.
