Council Selects 2012 County Warden Print

Lennox and Addington County Council wishes to announce that Bill Lowry, Mayor of Loyalist Township, was acclaimed as County Warden for the year 2012, at Council’s Inaugural Meeting on December 14, 2011.

Warden Lowry began his municipal service as a Councillor in Loyalist Township in 1998. In 2007 he was elected Deputy-Reeve of the Township, and elected Mayor in 2010.

As a member of Lennox and Addington County Council, Warden Lowry has served on the Emergency Services Advisory Committee and as Chair of the Joint Accessibility Advisory Committee. Warden Lowry has represented the County on the Kingston, Frontenac Lennox and Addington Health Unit and the Prince Edward-Lennox and Addington Social Services Committee, as well as the Lafarge Community Liaison Committee.

Warden Lowry worked for Ontario Hydro for 36 years prior to his retirement. He and his wife Heather have made Amherstview their home for over two decades. During that time he has been involved with many community organizations including minor hockey, ball, soccer, and the Ernestown Oldtimers Sports Association.

In his inaugural address, Warden Lowry stated that he appreciated County Council’s support and believes that, “together we can provide strong and effective leadership for the County.” He added, “I hope that I am able to rise to the challenge left by former County Wardens.”
