Public Access Computers | Print |

Public access computers (PACs) are available at all County branch libraries. They serve to facilitate the public's access to a variety of resources, including health, education, and culture. Public access computers also assist public who are seeking information regarding employment and/or entrepreneurship opportunities. The public is able to connect with e-Government services, e-Commerce, social tools (e-mail, etc.) and civic engagement or community involvement.

Internet Access

Public access computers are available to the patrons during hours of service at each branch library free of charge. This valuable electronic resource provides (but is not limited to) the following programs:

  • Internet access and e-mail (through e-mail providers such as hotmail);
  • children's educational games; and
  • on-line encyclopedias and databases.

Computer Use and Reservations

Computers may be reserved in advance. Patrons are required to present their card at the circulation desk in order to use the computer for a one hour session. At the end of the hour session, in order to continue accessing the computer, patrons must re-register at the desk. If there are other patrons waiting, staff may inform the patron that re-registering is not possible at that time but a hold will be placed on the computer for the patron. Visitors who wish to use a computer should talk to staff.

Wireless

Wireless access is available in some branches. All patrons must sign in at the circulation desk before using the wireless access.

Print-Outs

Print-outs are subject to the following fees:
Black and White: $0.25
Colour $0.75
Patrons must be prepared to pay for any and all pages they print from library computers.
