More than 12.5 million tourists visit Eastern Ontario annually — including more than 1.3 million from the United States and as many as 200,000 from overseas. Looking ahead, the forecast continues to show strong year-over-year increases in visitor numbers to Ontario.
Tap into an existing market where every day of the year, visitors can enjoy boating, hiking, camping, skating or camping at popular destinations and choose from among our many culture and heritage sites, such as Bon Echo, one of Ontario’s world-renowned Provincial Parks and experience culinary tourism opportunities including wineries, vineyards, tours and experiences.
On the sport-tourism front, Lennox & Addington County is making a name for itself in Canada by hosting large-scale provincial and national events. In 2008, the National Women's Under-18 Hockey Championship was held at the Strathcona Paper Centre in Napanee and in 2010 the multi-purpose facility was converted seamlessly into a 5-sheet ice pad in order to host the Ontario Men’s Curling Championship, a process repeated in 2012 for the Canadian Junior Men's and Women's Curling Championship. L&A has successfully hosted the Canadian Midget Fastball Championships on four occasions and in August of 2011 the Junior Canadians were Napanee.
