John M. Parrott CentreThe John M. Parrott Centre is a 168-bed, County owned and operated, long-term care facility located in the Town of Greater Napanee, in Southern Ontario. The Centre is within easy access of Belleville, Kingston and surrounding area.
The County's previous long-term care facility, Lenadco Home, was orginally built in 1971 with 76 beds but in 1975 the Home expanded to accommodate 160 residents. A 1990 Review looked at the viability of extensive renovations to meet Ministry of Health standards or replacement of the home, and recommended placement. In February 2003, a Redevelopment Agreement was signed with the Ministry of Health including eight (8) additional beds. The groundbreaking for the new facility, on a site directly across the street from the original home, took place in May 2004. The name of the new long-term care facility is The John M. Parrott Centre, in recognition of a generous donation from benefactors, Jack and Bernice Parrott. The John M. Parrott Centre officially opened in November 2005. The two-storey home is designed as an assembly of six residential home areas (RHA). Each RHA, featuring its own dining room, kitchen, sitting room and family dining room is home to 28 residents. The grounds surrounding The John M. Parrott Centre are beautifully landscaped, with numerous gardens and pathways and patio areas, where residents can relax and enjoy the sights and sounds of the rural setting. |
