Research Tips

"Come Prepared" for Library Research
Tips for patrons and students of all ages

When you visit your local library to do research for school, work, or personal interest, we recommend that you "come prepared". Whether you are an adult taking courses or doing genealogical work, a university, college, high school or elementary student, you might find the following suggestions useful:

  1. Plan for enough time to complete your assignment or project:
Allow yourself sufficient time to complete your assignment. Keep in mind that often, more resources (and a greater selection) will likely be available if you start early. You may have to make several trips to the library to complete your task.
  2. Bring your information with you that might be helpful:
Come prepared with specific information on your topic or area of interest. If you have been given handouts or a topic sheet it is helpful to bring this along. If you have been given a suggested bibliography or reference material sheet this is also helpful to have with you.
  3. Bring your valid Lennox and Addington County Library Card:
You will require a valid library card to access our services. (Cards can be updated and/or obtained at any Lennox and Addington library branch).
  4. Bring money for any photocopies or print-outs you might need to make:
Single-sided photocopies or print-outs are $0.25 per copy
Double-sided photocopies or print-outs are $0.50 per copy

Library staff are available to assist you with your research and reference queries and are specially trained to help you find information on your topic.
