Under the Emergency Management and Civil Protection Act, every municipality in Ontario is required to complete annual training and exercise its emergency plan.
The County of Lennox and Addington conducted its 2012 training and emergency exercise on October 18th. The training involved accessing and setting up the newly equipped secondary Emergency Operations Centre (EOC). The annual emergency exercise involved testing of all communications equipment and the declaration and termination of a "mock" state of local emergency.
The County of Lennox & Addington Emergency Response Group (CLAERG) members were assisted during the exercise by the Emergency Management Ontario Loyalist Sector Field Representative. Warden Lowry attended as head of Council and a member of the CLAERG. Councillors Hogg, Cole and Cox also attended and observed the exercise.
Funding for the telecommunications equipment necessary to establish the Secondary EOC was made possible through the Joint Emergency Preparedness Program of Public Safety Canada. The County of Lennox & Addington appreciates the financial assistance received for this project.
