Employee essential skills training now available | Print |

There is no doubt most small business owners have a lot on their plates. They service the needs of their customers, administer their shops and offices, hire and train staff, market their business in a world that demands you keep pace with technology, make sure they comply with government regulations, manage their company finances and work on business development. It’s a lot to look after on a daily basis. Kingston Literacy & Skills – Napanee recently initiated an interesting project that will provide an important tool for business owners.  Andrew Binks, coordinator of “Paving the Way to Lasting Employment” has worked with businesses to determine gaps in essential skills. These skills include things like: working with others, oral communication, job task planning and organizing, finding information and decision making. Andrew’s next step will be to develop a series of essential skills training videos that employers will be able to use for their staff.  Making access to this basic training simple and easy will ultimately help your employees become better at what they do and make them valuable assets to your business.   You can follow the project at http://www.klandskills.ca/proj/lastingemploy.htm.
