For Avril Lavigne, it all started right here in Lennox & Addington County. The locals that listened to her sing at many local festivals and events knew right away that she was destined for stardom.

After receiving her first record deal at age 16, her music dreams became a reality. Her first big hit came in the summer of 2002 with her debut song "Complicated". Avril broke a record set by none other than Madonna by holding onto the number one spot on the Contemporary Hit Radio chart for 11 weeks in a row. Other singles from her debut album such as "Complicated", "Sk8er Boi", "I'm With You", and "Losing Grip" took the world by storm and made the small-town girl a household name across the globe.

Avril’s second album, Under My Skin, was released in 2004. Hits such as “Don’t Tell Me” and “My Happy Ending” has solidified her role as a superstar.

Avril’s third album - "The Best Damn Thing" - was released in 2007, it featured her first U.S. Billboard Hot 100 single, "Girlfriend".

Lavigne has scored a total of five number-one singles worldwide, including "Complicated", "Sk8er Boi", "I'm With You", "My Happy Ending" and "Girlfriend". She is currently working on her fourth studio album, expected to be released in 2010.

Lavigne has sold more than 30 million copies of her albums worldwide and is currently one of the top-selling artists releasing albums in the United States, with over 10 million copies certified by the Recording Industry Association of America. Billboard named Lavigne the #10 pop artist of the 2000s as well as the 28th overall best act of the decade.
